So… What Is a Virtual Assistant Agency (and Is It Right for You)?

After four years of running The Remote Assistant, one thing’s become clear: the needs of our clients are changing. We’ve found this very evident with our client base of Consultancies, Small Businesses and Higher Education.

What started as me offering one-to-one VA support has grown into something much broader. We’re now an agency — but that word can be vague and off-putting if you’re not sure what it actually means.

So, let’s break it down.

What is a Virtual Assistant agency?

A VA agency is a team-based model. Instead of hiring one virtual assistant, you’re working with a business that brings together a carefully chosen team of people with different specialisms, for us that’s: PA/Admin, Academic Project Support and Marketing Management — all under one umbrella.

It means you’re not locked into one person’s availability or skill set. You get access to the right kind of support when you need it, with the structure and reliability of a central point of contact.

At The Remote Assistant, we now work with a trusted team of PA’s, marketeers, and Research Project Officers — all highly experienced, UK-based associates. We currently match each client with a dedicated associate who fits their needs best — and we back that up with solid systems, templates and a hands-on approach to onboarding, with the support and experience of the Lead Virtual Assistant too.

In future, we’re planning to offer multi-specialist support for clients with more complex or evolving needs — but for now, our model keeps things personal, efficient, and highly tailored.

What kind of work can an agency help with?

Here’s how we currently support our three main client groups:

🧑‍💻 For consultants

We take care of the day-to-day operations so you can focus on delivering to your clients. That includes:

  • Inbox and calendar management

  • Client onboarding

  • Proposal formatting and follow-up

  • Booking travel

  • Marketing management

  • Sending newsletters or updating websites

  • Anything else that might crop up!

You stay in your zone of genius — we keep everything ticking over behind the scenes.

🎓 For higher education teams

We support research projects with specialist roles like Research Project Officers. These are hands-on roles tailored to the needs of the Principal Investigator/Project Lead:

  • Day to day project admin

  • Coordinating team project meetings

  • Budget tracking and finance admin

  • Event and symposium planning

  • Managing project newsletters

  • Project website updates

  • Organising travel and accommodation

Our associates already know the landscape — so onboarding is quick and delivery is smooth.

🛍️ For small businesses

You know you should be doing regular marketing — but it’s always the thing that gets pushed down the list. We step in and do it for you:

  • Email marketing (strategy, copywriting, sending)

  • Social media management

  • Blog writing and formatting

  • Launch planning and support

  • Website updates

Whether you’re just starting out and need a helping hand for a few hours each week, or you need hands-on support, we’re ready to grow with your business.

Is a VA agency right for you?

If you:

  • Wear too many hats and need to reclaim your time

  • Want the flexibility of freelance support, without the hassle of managing multiple people

  • Value experience and reliability

  • Like the idea of one point of contact, but a whole team working behind the scenes

Then yes — an agency model could be exactly what you need.

We’re not here to upsell. We’re here to provide the support that gives you your time (and sanity) back. Whether you’re a consultant who needs a second brain, an academic team juggling multiple deliverables, or a business owner stuck in marketing limbo — we can help.
