A Few End-of-Year Reflections

As the year draws to a close and things start to slow down (at least a little), it feels like a good moment to pause and reflect. Not just on what’s been achieved, but on what’s been learned along the way — about the business, about growth, and about how we want to work.

This year marked a significant milestone for us: four years in business. What started as a small, flexible support offering has steadily grown into something much more established — and this year, in particular, has felt like a step towards becoming a more intentional, six-figure agency.

One of the biggest milestones within that growth has been expanding the team.

This year, we welcomed two associate Remote Assistants, Emma Garcia and Thandi Dube, and it’s been a genuine pleasure to see the impact they’ve had with their clients. Both have stepped into complex roles with confidence, helping clients put better systems and processes in place, bringing clarity where things felt overwhelming, and ultimately enabling those businesses to grow more sustainably.

Seeing our associates build trusted relationships with their superstar clients — and watching those clients gain time, focus and momentum as a result — has been one of the most rewarding parts of the year. It’s also reinforced something I’ve long believed: the right support, delivered well, can be transformational — especially when delivered as part of a growing, well-supported team.

This year also came with a small experiment that didn’t quite go to plan — my first office space.

On paper, it felt like a sensible next step. In reality, I quickly learned that a daily commute just isn’t for me. While the office itself was great, it clarified something important about how I work best and what kind of flexibility I want to preserve, both for myself and for the business as it continues to grow. Sometimes progress looks like trying something, realising it’s not the right fit, and being comfortable enough to change course.

Another constant this year has been continuing to work with Emma Bebb, my brilliant Marketing Manager. Her strategic thinking, calm approach and ability to translate ideas into action have been invaluable. Having someone you trust implicitly — who understands the business, the tone, and the bigger picture — makes a huge difference, particularly as the business moves into its next phase.

Behind the scenes, I’ve also been investing in my own development as a business owner. This year, I started working with Holly Copsy, a VA mentor who has been instrumental in helping me think more clearly about team growth, structure, and what it really means to build a sustainable agency model. That external perspective has been incredibly valuable — not just in shaping plans for the future, but in giving me the confidence to make decisions that support long-term growth rather than short-term fixes.

Above all, this year has been about trust — from our clients, from our associates, and within the business itself. Trust to try new things, trust to refine how we work, and trust that steady, thoughtful progress is just as important as big, visible wins.

As we head into the Christmas break, I’m incredibly grateful: to our clients for the trust they place in us, to our associates for the care and commitment they bring to their work, and to everyone who has been part of the journey over the past four years.

Here’s to resting well over the festive period — and to continuing and building on the great work already underway as we step into the next chapter.
